Four general assembly and installation tips when installing a fan
These four tips can ensure a lot of fun during installation, we recommend reading through these tips in advance, even before you plan to purchase a fan. After all, good preparation is half the battle.
1. For a new fan to be purchased - check the location of mounting
When installing a new fan (not a replacement), first assess whether there is enough space to fit a fan. Take into account the length, width, height and depth of the fan, as well as any pipe and electrical connections and, in the case of a heat exchanger, the condensate drain.
2. When replacing a fan - check current specifications
When replacing a product, it is important to know in advance the properties of the old product to be replaced. Why? So that, after purchase, you always have a product that fits the connections. This includes: connection diameters, length, width, height and depth, but also the electrical connection (perilex, rim earth or euro plug).
3. Read the installation instructions and watch our installation videos
Most manufacturers send an (installation) manual with the product. However, we recommend reading the installation manual before purchase to clear up any questions or as preparation for installation. Please make use of our data enrichment, as we have added (installation) manuals and/or brochures for 99% of all fans. These are .pdf files and can be downloaded directly from our website. These files can be found on the product pages under the heading "documents". If you prefer to watch a product video, please click here.
4. Safety
Finally, and most important point in assembly is safety. Mounting a fan safely, with safe products, in a safe environment.
Here are the three most important points:
- Before starting any electrical connections: switch off power/electricity
- Do you need to mount the fan at height? Then use scaffolding or sturdy stairs, always make sure the surface is flat and not slippery
- Work with certified/professional tools
