The Belimo SFA is a rotary damper actuator with spring return designed to operate air damper sections up to approximately 4 m² in technical building installations. The actuator operates on an open/close signal: when power is supplied, it moves to the operating position and tensions the return springs. In the event of a power failure, the damper automatically and independently returns to the safe position, driven by the spring energy. This makes the actuator suitable for applications requiring a predefined fail-safe position, such as fire and smoke dampers or emergency ventilation dampers in central air handling units. The motor achieves a 90° rotation angle in 75 seconds, has a standby power consumption of 3.5 W, and the motor noise level is 45 dB(A). With a torque of 20 Nm, it is suitable for large, heavy damper constructions in commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
The actuator mounts directly onto the damper shaft using the supplied universal clamp ring, suitable for shaft diameters from 10 to 25.4 mm. A supplied anti-rotation bracket prevents the actuator from rotating with the shaft. The rotation direction of both the motor and spring return is set via the mounting orientation (L/R). The rotation angle is mechanically adjustable by stops, up to a maximum of 95°. For manual operation, a hand crank is provided to lock the damper in any position. Electrical connection is made via a fixed 1-metre cable with two 0.75 mm² conductors. The actuator is maintenance-free and ideally suited for open/close control of large air dampers in central air handling units, mixing dampers, and emergency ventilation dampers in commercial and industrial HVAC installations.
