The top 5 best CO2 meters
When you are in a room for an extended period of time, it is important to know if the air quality is good. If it is not, you run the risk of suffering from various health complaints. Especially when there are several people in your home or office, CO2 levels can rise quickly. Now not only is exposure to high levels of CO2 very harmful, but corona can also be transmitted more easily in a room with a high ppm value. So a carbon dioxide meter has become indispensable. This device indicates when the CO2 level is too high in a room, and thus when it is time to ventilate.
Top 5 CO2 meters
Want to buy a CO2 meter for your home, but have no idea which monitor fits your needs? Check out our best-tested CO2 meters below. Learn how a CO2 meter works here.

2-year warranty
SenseAir tSENSE
tSense is an excellent device for measuring both CO2 and humidity, but is also extremely suitable for controlling fans such as mechanical ventilation, WT systems, duct fans, roof fans, etc. using a 0-10V signal.
Measures humidity and temperature
Data is exportable to Excel
Lasts a minimum of 15 years
Can drive a fan
Measuring range up to 2,000 ppm
Without traffic light function: can't tell at a glance when to ventilate
Aeros particulate matter meter and aerosols, TVOC and CO2 meter
The Aeros is a fantastic air quality meter. It measures indoor particulate matter, aerosols and TVOC in addition to CO2 levels. The air quality meter works via Wi-Fi and has a stylish design to match any interior.
Measurements insightful in simple app
Measures CO2, humidity and temperature
Measure particulate matter starting at PM 0.3
Measure airborne chemicals (TVOC or VOC)
Measuring range up to 20,000 ppm
CO2 values are not visible on a screen
Which CO2 meter should I choose?
When choosing a suitable, user-friendly CO2 meter, there are a number of points that are important according to the government. Pay attention to things like LED indicators (stoplight), measurement error, calibration capability and data logging.
Pay attention to calibration capability. As a CO2 sensor ages, "drift" can occur. This is a slight and constant change in the device's readings under the same conditions, making the measurement inaccurate. Several solutions are offered to make the calibration accurate again. The preferred one here is ABC (self-calibrating function), to check annually that the CO2 meter is responding properly. You should do this with any CO2 meter, regardless of supplier. In any case, make sure you don't choose a sensor that has to be calibrated by the manufacturer or laboratory. This is very expensive and probably doesn't happen often enough.
Ideally, get a measurement range up to at least 5,000 ppm.
Every CO2 monitor has a measurement error. It is important that this measurement error is not too large. A measurement error of up to 10% of a reading up to 2,000 ppm or 100 ppm to a value of 5,000 ppm is acceptable.
Choose a CO2 meter that displays the measured values on a screen. This way it is always clear to people in a room what the current CO2 level is.
A CO2 monitor with color indicator or alarm (also called stoplight function or LED indication) ensures that those present in a room know immediately when it is time to ventilate more.
Data logging (also called data logging) is mandatory for elementary schools and can be useful for anyone. It allows you to evaluate the course in CO2 values throughout the day and to see the effect of opening windows and doors, for example.
The data from the EnviSense is only stored on the memory card of your own device and can be viewed in Excel or in the free digital dashboard if desired. This dashboard can be accessed with any device and on any Internet browser. The data cannot be viewed by others in any way unless you forward it yourself. This is not the case with all CO2 meters. There, it is often the case that the dashboard has a subscription that costs money or works through a paid app.
