A rectangular fire damper is a crucial safety component in the ventilation system designed to prevent the spread of smoke and fire through the ventilation system. This damper is specifically developed for use in rectangular-shaped ventilation ducts.
The rectangular fire damper features a mechanism that automatically closes as soon as smoke or a temperature rise is detected in the ventilation system. Upon detection, the mechanism activates the damper, which then blocks the airflow to prevent smoke and fire from spreading through the ventilation system to other parts of the building. The damper can be manually operated or automatically closed via a servomotor or smoke sensor, depending on the chosen model.
When installing the rectangular fire damper, it is essential that the damper is placed in a ventilation duct of the same size. This ensures a proper seal and optimal operation of the damper. After installation, it is important to regularly maintain the fire damper for reliable operation, such as periodic checks for dust and debris, testing the closing mechanism, and ensuring that the damper opens and closes smoothly. An annual inspection by a professional is also recommended to ensure that the damper functions optimally.
