Sauna and spa ventilation
In a sauna or spa, the temperature is quite high on average and the humidity can rise. These conditions are favorable for disease causing agents and bacteria to grow and spread. Poor air quality in a sauna can cause:
- Excessive humidity;
- Mold growth;
- Health issues;
- Infection with viruses.
Optimal ventilation is therefore essential in a sauna. Contact us for advice, order directly or request a quote.

How to ventilate a spa?
The main function of ventilating in the spa is to remove excess moisture and provide sufficient fresh air. This can be done naturally through air vents, or mechanically using a ventilation system. It is useful in a spa to apply cross ventilation. This is done by allowing outside air to enter through two ventilation openings placed opposite each other, such as windows, doors or grilles.
Ventilation in a sauna
Ventilation is important not only in a spa or wellness, but also in the sauna cabin itself. It provides good air quality and ensures that the heat is better distributed. Natural ventilation is the easiest way. Install ventilation grilles in the space below the sauna heater and in the wall opposite or on the ceiling. Warm air rises and is expelled through this grille. Fresh air is drawn in through the grille below the heater.

Mold develops in a sauna because moisture remains present for a longer period of time. That is why it is important to ventilate properly and continuously to prevent mold. It also helps to clean moisture stains immediately so that mold cannot grow here.
The humidity in a dry sauna, where no water is poured on it, is around 15%. Pouring water on the sauna stones increases the humidity. In a hot sauna, it is advisable not to pour too much, as the drops of air can feel hot on the skin.
