Replace filters
In this article, we would like to take you through the do's and dont's when replacing MVHR filters
Are you replacing your MVHR filters adequately?
Do you have a MVHR unit hanging in your home or building? Then you should make sure that you replace the MVHR filters regularly. The heat exchanger filters filter fine dust and polluted air particles from the air flowing into your home through the heat exchanger. Thus, the heat exchanger filter ensures clean air in your home. It is therefore logical that after a while the heat exchanger filter is full of dirt particles through which no clean air can pass. Not only do dust and dirt particles collect on these MVHR filters, if you don't replace them regularly, harmful mold can also begin to live there.

Do you live along a busy highway or is there a lot of construction going on in your neighborhood? Most likely, your MVHR filters are more likely to get clogged and dirty. Be sure to check them at least every 3 months and replace your heat exchanger filters at least twice a year. Do they look black with dirt? Then they should be replaced immediately! It is wise to keep several MVHR filters in stock at home. After all, you don't want to live in a polluted environment and breathe polluted air.
Is a MVHR filter easy to replace yourself?
Yes, a MVHR filter in the MVHR unit is very easy to install/replace yourself. Make sure you know what kind of filters are common in the MVHR unit you have installed. There are three different types of MVHR filters, namely: filters with wire frame, without wire frame and panel filters. The most important thing is to select the right filter for the right MVHR unit.
Do not leave the heat exchanger switched off unnecessarily for long periods of time. Are you afraid that you don't think about changing the heat exchanger filters or that you forget to do so due to the busy schedule? We are happy to remind you with our MVHR filter service. Please note that not every MVHR filter fits!
MVHR filters are made to fit a particular brand and type of heat recovery system. Each manufacturer has its own filter sizes, such as length, width and thickness. The filters to choose depend on the brand and type of heat recovery system. To always be 100% sure that you are ordering the right filters, we recommend that you always look at the type plate of the MVHR (your ventilation system). This way you avoid ordering filters that are just too small or too large.
New standards
You may have already heard about it: the new filter standardization "ISO16890". The filter classes G3, G4, M6, F7 etc. will disappear over time. The ISO16890 was created to now indicate in even more detail the percentage of which dust particles are retained by the filter. In other words, the smaller the ISO ePM value and the higher the percentage, the better the filter. For more explanation and detailed information, please refer to our blog on: New regulations MVHR filters: ISO16890.
Cleaning of your entire MVHR system
If the MVHR filters need replacing, you can assume that the ventilation valves also need cleaning. These can be easily cleaned and dusted. Be sure to remember how far open the vents should be. Replace them in the same way. Also your MVHR unit should be cleaned once in a while. Never do this yourself but have it thoroughly and professionally cleaned by a professional company. Once every 7 to 8 years having your MVHR unit thoroughly cleaned should be sufficient, depending on your living situation (for example, if you live next to a busy road or along an industrial or construction site).
A clean MVHR system and clean MVHR filters are necessary to ensure a clean and healthy indoor climate. Therefore, follow these instructions carefully!

Blow out filters with compressor. If this is done carelessly, you will blow the filter cloth to pieces or out of the frame.
FWashing out/rinsing filters with water/soap or the like will change the progressive structure of the filter, causing it to lose its effectiveness.
Placing a pollen filter in the drain. This gives more resistance and has no efficiency because this filter is purely to keep the heat exchanger free of coarse dust particles. This air is exhausted to the outside anyway.
