Air purifier selection guide
Nowadays, a lot of people spend a lot more time indoors than before. To be sure of clean air, it is important to ventilate well and to install an air purifier. After all, the air inside is often more polluted than the air outside. An open window or extra ventilation provides fresh air. An air purifier then filters small particles from the air, such as dust, pollen, smoke and fine dust, which can also enter the room with an open window. But which air purifier is the best choice for you? Read about it here in the air purifier selection guide.
What is an air purifier?
An air purifier is a device you can place in any room and helps if you suffer from, for example, allergies, asthma, smoke or (fine) dust. But what does an air purifier actually do?
An air purifier cleans the air of tiny particles that are annoying and/or harmful to the airways. This can be done using different techniques; the air purifiers in our range work with ionisation or bipolar ionisation as well as with different filters. Ionisation is also a proven technique against corona. However, this does not give a 100% guarantee that you will not get corona, as this virus can also be on your hands or face.

* What is meant by a confined or public space? A confined space is a space where the same people are usually present or spaces where the same people are present for long periods of time such as a home or office space. A public space is a space where several people are often present, such as stores, restaurants and (company) canteens.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ionization and bipolar ionization?
You can read the difference between the air purifiers in our range with ionization and bi-polar ionization in our blog 'Ionization and bipolar ionization, how it works'.
Does an air purifier work against corona?
Ionization is a proven technique against corona, but it is not a 100% guarantee that you will not get corona. You can still contract it at other locations or carry it with you on your hands or face, for example. Others can also infect you. You should therefore always adhere to the measures (washing hands, keeping your distance, etc.).
Can an air purifier be harmful?
An air purifier with ionizer emits a small amount of ozone. However, this is so little that it is not harmful to your health. The ozone value of Faton air purifiers is 0.01 ppm. Extra ventilation is therefore not necessary. The Periso and Brink air purifiers do not emit ozone.
Air purifier or window open?
Opening a window once in a while is incredibly important for fresh air. But this is not enough; in doing so, always keep the vents open and the mechanical ventilation system on. This ensures that CO2 levels inside remain low and oxygen levels are maintained. The air purifier then filters out, among other things, dust, dust mites, pollen and fine dust but also unpleasant odors and cigarette smoke/air, which can come in even with an open window. The HEPA filter removes harmful particles that are much smaller from the air. In addition, the ionization technology ensures that bacteria and viruses, among other things, are made inactive and heavy, so that you no longer inhale them. So it is best to have a good ventilation system AND a good air purifier.
Does an air purifier help with allergies?
People with allergies notice a marked difference with an air purifier. They sleep better when there is one in the bedroom and feel more comfortable in the living room. For example, if you suffer from hay fever, it is great not to be bothered by it at home and to feel comfortable in your own home. An air purifier also filters smoke and other unpleasant odors and dust from the air, for example, from the neighbor's wood stove or pets (from cats to dogs or parrots).
Additional tip
For optimal operation of the air cleaner: keep the air cleaner and filters clean. The filters are best vacuumed out once with the vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting. Check them at least every six months and replace if necessary.
